“Increasing the Awesome: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope” By Dr. Amber Straughn
Just when you thought that we couldn’t get any better than Hubble, NASA goes and builds a telescope 100 times more powerful. Amber will tell us about building the amazing James Webb Space Telescope here on earth and the science we’ll do with it once it’s in space (2018!).
Bio: Amber Straughn is an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. When she’s not gazing longingly at the heavens (or throwing things at her computer in attempts to get code to run), Amber enjoys cooking, yoga, and flying airplanes….though not all three at once.

“It ALL starts with a trail” By Aaron J Lowe
“Trails have guided us through the past, take us through the present and lead us to the future. From tracking an animal, driving a car, to walking on the moon, trails have evolved with us and have always been an essential tool to our existence.”
Aaron Lowe is a Trails and Access Specialist with the Department of Land and Natural Resources. With over 30 years of hiking and outdoor recreation experience, Aaron has been managing all 100 miles of forestry trails on Oahu since 1995. Aaron believes that human respect for nature can start with a simple hiking trail, and wants to implement creative ways for people to enjoy, learn and respect nature.
